Amir Syed began his career in mortgage finance in 2003 and has quickly earned a reputation as an incredibly talented and driven leader. 

After leaving DePaul University in Chicago, Amir entered the residential mortgage industry and catapulted to become the most recognized and youngest producer at his company of over 100 loan officers. 

"I have always believed that the best leaders, must be the best followers. I naturally worked as though I were an owner and this caused the actual ownership team and everyone to trust my leadership. It was imperative for everyone to understand that my performance, actions, and care for the company played a large part in the overall long term success."

After spending three tremendous years with his first company, Amir decided to rejoin his father in the development and property management business. During this time, it allowed him to further spend priceless amount of time learning advanced business skills from his father, which is undoubtedly the reason for Amir's success as a young businessman. 

"Everyone should have a mentor in life, fortunately my parents, especially my father, became my business mentor at a very young age. My father owned a small business that allowed me to work on Saturdays and during summer vacation. This opportunity allowed me to experience so many different business situations at a young age. Such an experience has also lead to our awesome summer internship program at American Street." 

In May 2006, Amir decided to re-enter the mortgage industry. With the help of his two childhood friends, Sharbel Shamoon and Daniel Chookaszian, the American Street brand was born. 

"Many people wonder how the name American Street was created. Having immigrated to the United States in 1986 at the age of 5, the word America is synonymous with opportunity, success, hope, and freedom. To be American is an honor and something my family and everyone should be proud of. The word "Street" derived from my father's first job in 1986. He earned $3.75 hourly wage at Main Street, which is now Kohl's. Therefore, the name American Street was created." 

With the direct leadership of Amir, American Street has earned the loyalty and respect of thousands of homeowners and business partners. Most recognizably, American Street has single handedly created its signature charity event: The American StreetBall Classic.

This charity basketball tournament has helped thousands of families in need and proves that every single person can allocate a few hours of his or her time yearly physically, if not financially, to help charities and the underprivileged it caters to.

Just recently, Amir was appointed as a Board of Director for the Illinois Mortgage Bankers Association. He is also a proud member of the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, Streeterville Chamber of Commerce, and the River North Association

Amir resides in the River West neighborhood of Chicago and enjoys basketball and tennis during his free time. Most importantly, he always spends his entire Sunday at home with his parents and kid sister.
